Shelly Wakamatsu

Aloha, my name is Shelly Wakamatsu and I’m the Supervisor of Administrative Services here at W. M. Keck Observatory in Waimea. Our Administrative Services team provides support to every department at Keck, from Engineering to HR. As an avid cook, I love to share my skills with my Keck 'Ohana, including Fried Rice Fridays and scratch malasadas for Fat Tuesday.  During the pandemic, I became a proficient Zoom administrator, running international meetings of up to 500 participants. I currently serve as one of our company's Zoom and Slack administrators.

I have a degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from UH Hilo and am a proud alum of Kamehameha Schools Kapālama Campus.  In my free time, I craft shell jewelry exclusively collected from Waialea Bay, perform house maintenance miracles (creative engineering), and am the chief dishwasher and cook at my hale in Waikōloa.
